I am a Principal AI Systems Architect and Strategic Advisor, focused on helping organizations design durable, explainable, and defensible AI architectures—not just models, but the full systems that turn intelligence into reliable, goal-directed capability.
My work centers on semantic architecture: how meaning, context, and intent are represented inside AI systems, how those representations evolve over time, and how system behavior changes as data, models, vendors, and organizational incentives shift. I help leadership teams understand what in their AI systems is stable, what is fragile, and where hidden risk quietly accumulates.
I advise founders, CTOs, and boards on:
- AI system architecture and orchestration (RAG, tool use, multi-model pipelines)
- Long-term semantic stability, explainability, and drift
- Architectural defensibility and IP positioning
- Avoiding vendor and model lock-in
- Translating human goals into deployable, auditable AI systems
My perspective is shaped by decades of experience spanning the full stack—from electrons, bits, and bytes through large-scale platforms, regulated systems, and executive leadership. Earlier in my career, I served as Director of International Technology at America Online, leading global platform deployments during the early growth of large-scale internet services, and later consulted with Apple Computer and AOL on platform architecture and service integration.
I also served as Chief Operating Officer of Sandel Avionics, overseeing operations in a highly regulated aerospace environment. That experience deeply informs my approach to AI system reliability, certification-grade thinking, and accountability—where failure modes, traceability, and human authority are not theoretical concerns but operational necessities.
Alongside my technical work, I have spent decades in organizational leadership, governance, and investment, serving on boards and advising early-stage and growth companies across technology and aerospace sectors. I currently serve as Executive Director of a 100-acre nonprofit retreat and education center, responsible for organizational governance, infrastructure renewal, financial stewardship, and long-horizon sustainability—experience that further grounds my work in real operational constraints rather than abstract models.
Across online platforms, avionics, and AI systems, my work consistently bridges vision and implementation—moving organizations from “we want this” to “this is how it works, safely and sustainably.”
I work primarily in advisory and architectural roles, helping organizations make high-confidence, long-horizon decisions about AI systems where failure, opacity, or drift would be costly.
This site reflects that work: short, first-principles essays intended to help leaders frame AI clearly before decisions harden into structure.
